L’Organo’s 2026 Piccolo Spoleto Concert Series Approaches

As spring starts to give way to summer and the temperatures rise in Charleston, preparations for L’Organo’s FREE organ concert series are heating up. Our countdown to the 2026 Piccolo Spoleto Festival has started: our first concert on Memorial Day is mere weeks away.

As Chair of L’Organo for the first year, I personally look forward to welcoming you every weekday morning at 10 a.m. for our stellar line-up of performances. Just like our artists who come from near and far, we also welcome audience members from all over. Whether you’re a Charleston native or experiencing the city for the first time, it is my hope that L’Organo’s unique spotlight on the king of instruments in our historic churches will give a glimpse of the Holy City that is not often encountered.

Nicholas Quardokus and Rochelle Riley

It was indeed L’Organo that introduced me to the City of Charleston when I first played on the series in 2015. That week here eleven years ago made me fall in love with this city, and now, since 2021, I have called it home.

Another fresh face in Piccolo Spoleto this year is the new Director of Cultural Affairs, Rochelle Riley. Ms. Riley is an acclaimed author and essayist who comes to Charleston from Detroit, where she was the Director of Arts and Culture. I had a chance to meet her in person in early April, and in addition to our shared ties to Michigan, we also share a deep love for Charleston. I look forward to working together with her in the future to ensure quality programming continues in the years to come.

On behalf of the entire L’Organo Committee, we hope that whether you’re a seasoned concert-goer or considering dropping in for the first time, you will find something in L’Organo for you, from the classical organ repertoire to gospel music to Lord of the Rings. And maybe, just maybe, the magic of the music and the majesty of our historic churches might just help you fall in love (or fall in love again!) with the City of Charleston, just as I did a decade ago.
